SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake – predicted release date, news and more

THQ Nordic are gearing up for the latest adventure from everyone’s favourite sea-dweller in SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake.

The game is expected to appear at the THQ Nordic Summer Showcase this evening, with an update and potentially a release date on the cards.

Let’s jam through what we know about the game so far.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake – predicted release date

At the time of writing, no release date has been set for SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake. We’re expecting that to change this evening. But for now, we’d be surprised if it didn’t release either in late 2022 or early 2023. We’ll update when we have a firm date.

THQ Nordic announced it was making a brand new platformer starring the yellow hero during the publisher’s annual Showcase last year.

The 3D platformer comes from Purple Lamp, who were responsible for 2020’s Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated. However, this will be an entirely new adventure rather than a remake.

SpongeBob and his friend Patrick have been given the power of wish-granting Mermaid Tears by fortune teller Kassandra. Thanks to their wishes, the pair accidentally open up a bunch of portals to Wishworlds – strange alternative universes where anything’s possible.

Alas, their friends get sucked into this portals, leaving them trapped across multiple universes. It’s up to SpongeBob and Patrick to enter these strange new worlds and rescue their friends before they’re lost forever.

SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is set to arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC. It’ll also be backwards compatible with Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
