Will There be a FIFA 24?
It has been nearly thirty years since the release of FIFA International Soccer, the first game produced out of the partnership between FIFA and EA Sports. Since then the FIFA franchise has gone on to regular, annual releases and is one of the most popular games on the planet.

We have grown used to the release of a new FIFA game every October, and 2022 was no different with the release of FIFA 23. However, that was the last FIFA game made with EA Sports, which begs the question: will there be a FIFA 24?
Well the answer is complicated, so will look at all the possibilities for the franchise and more going forward.
Will There be a FIFA 24?
The short answer to this question is maybe, but it isn’t quite that simple. Although it is the end of the partnership between FIFA and EA Sports it won’t be the end of Football games made by EA Sports, as they have already announced they’re going to continue with their football games but under a new name: EA Sports FC.

We first saw this split may happen in 2021 when EA stated in a press release they may look to rename their game, as well as reviewing their relationship with FIFA. This has now come to pass with EA opting to not renew their relationship with FIFA.
Will There be a FIFA Without EA Sports?
After it became public that the relationship between both EA Sports and FIFA was ending, FIFA went on to release a statement declaring their intent to continue making games. FIFA President Gianni Infantino had this to say on the matter:
“I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans. The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on – the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain THE BEST.”
“The interactive gaming and esports sector is on a path of unrivalled growth and diversification. FIFA’s strategy is to ensure we can make the most of all future options and ensure a wide range of products and opportunities for gamers, fans, member associations and partners.”

So although it doesn’t seem like there will be a FIFA 24, the FIFA President seems pretty set on trying to continue the brand and franchise. It just won’t be made by EA Sports. In their press release, they went on to add they’re working with other publishers in the space to try and continue the brand.
Yet, we have seen nothing more of this since the press release nearly a year ago. What FIFA does next is certainly one to keep an eye on.
